"Where I am from" Workshop series for BHM2019 in partnership with Newham Council.

“Where I am from” A Trilogy Workshop by MJ Fontaine, was a series of three creative workshops based upon the Theme “Where I am from” the Heritage collection.  
The Trilogy of workshops  began with a Self Portrait and ended with the unveiling of a Collaborative Art Piece .
Using the poem of Sojourner truth as a prompt, participants explored the ‘term’ and the concept of being a woman of colour in Britain. The workshop started with a talk by Marilyn who discussion the collection and the concept of self-identity followed by meditative painting session guided by the artist.

Herstory A Poetry and painting workshop was a collaboration between. Dub Poet and performance artist Dbi-young Africa  and Marilyn  using  creative writing tools to help participants generate affirmative poetry that supported personal reflection and self-esteem building. During the session a Rites of Passage performed a live painting  piece that was displayed at Stratford Library in East London.
